Hi, I'm Drew Breunig
I explore at the intersection of cultural anthropology, computer science, and media.
Today, my work is focused on writing about AI and building tools for AI engineers. I’m the CEO and cofounder of Cmpnd, where we work on DSPy and help teams build reliable AI applications. I’m also editing The Context Engineering Handbook for O’Reilly Media.
I also advise the Overture Maps Foundation, focusing on the Global Entity Reference System, which allows people to easily join geospatial datasets.
Previously, I ran strategy, data science, and strategic client projects at PlaceIQ (acquired by Precisely). At Precisely, I designed strategy and positioning for its data integrity software, data, and services.
With Nicholas Felton, I co-founded and developed Reporter, an award-winning app for measuring and understanding yourself. I also designed and built StepList, an app for managing routines.
I live in Alameda, California with my family.
